What is Hollywood known for?

Hollywood is world-famous as the birthplace of the entertainment industry, home to iconic landmarks like the Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, and countless film studios. It’s where movies, TV shows, and dreams come to life.

How are celebrities chosen for a star?

Anyone can nominate a celebrity, but they must meet specific criteria and be approved by the Walk of Fame selection committee. A sponsorship fee (approx. $75,000) must also be paid to cover the creation and maintenance of the star. There are currently over 2,700 stars, and new ones are added regularly throughout the year.

Can you see the Hollywood Sign from Hollywood Boulevard?

Yes! While not directly next to the Walk of Fame, there is designated viewpoint in the Ovation Mall for great photos of the Hollywood Sign — ask us at the Visitor Center for the best spots or book a tour to get closer.

Is Hollywood safe for tourists?

Yes — Hollywood is a popular tourist destination and generally safe, especially around Hollywood Boulevard. As with any major city, staying aware of your surroundings is recommended.

Are there any fictional characters on the Walk of Fame?

Yes! Beloved characters like Mickey Mouse, The Simpsons, Shrek, and Godzilla have their own stars.

Can I attend a Walk of Fame star ceremony?

Yes! Star ceremonies are free and open to the public. Schedules are typically announced in advance on the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce website. Know in advance when streets in Hollywood are closed or impacted by movie premieres, special events here.

Where can I find the most famous stars on the Walk of Fame?

Some of the most visited and photographed stars — including Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles — are located near the TCL Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre, and the Hollywood & Highland complex on Hollywood Boulevard. Where can I park in Hollywood and is there public transportation?

Parking

  • Behind our Visitor Center Office: about $30 all day. 6820 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

  • 2 blocks away: public parking at $10 all day. 1667 N Sycamore Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

  • At the Ovation Mall: $3 for 2 h with validation in a store. Johnny Grant Way & N Highland Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

Public transportation:

  • Metro B Line (Red): The Hollywood/Highland Station is the nearest subway stop. Trains operate daily from approximately 4:30 AM to 12:30 AM and every 10 minutes. 6815 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

  • Bus Line 217: Runs along Hollywood Boulevard, connecting to various parts of the city.

  • Bus Line 212: Operates on nearby streets, providing additional connectivity.

  • DASH Hollywood: A local shuttle service offering convenient stops throughout Hollywood.

Parking & Public Transportation

Where is Hollywood located?

Hollywood is a vibrant neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California, about 20 minutes from downtown LA and near popular areas like West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

Can I bring my dog with me?

We only allow service dogs with valid proof of certification.

Are the tours wheelchair accessible?

The tours are not wheelchair accessible.

Are all the tours guided?

Yes! The Bus Tours and Exotic Car Tours include expert local guides/drivers who provide fascinating insights and insider stories about LA’s most famous spots.

What is the minimum age to driver an Exotic Car?

To be eligible to drive the exotic cars you must hold a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years old to drive a Ferrari, Cybertruck, Spyder one-of-a-kind or 21 years old to drive a Lamborghini.

If you are under age, don’t worry! You can still join the tour as a passenger and enjoy the ride with one of our friendly tour guides. For children under 12, please ensure they are accompanied by an authorized adult.

For the Exotic Car Tours, is insurance included?

Your booking includes insurance coverage. There is no deposit required.

For the Exotic Car Tours, can I bring my own camera?

We absolutely encourage you to bring your own camera so that you can capture all of the amazing sights on your exotic car driving tour! For your convenience, the tour company also sell GoPro video recordings of the entire tour, for an additional $30.

We recommend booking in advance for popular time slots, but same-day reservations are available — just ask our team!

What should I bring when visiting Hollywood?

We recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable walking shoes – You'll be exploring Hollywood Boulevard on foot

  • Sunscreen and sunglasses – LA is sunny year-round

  • A camera or smartphone – For celebrity star photos and scenic views

  • A refillable water bottle – Stay hydrated while sightseeing

  • A light jacket – Evenings can get cool, especially near the hills

  • A small backpack or bag – For personal items and souvenirs .
